Will Mae Mo be the same as the others?

Aibileen has mentioned a few times, how she takes care of children, and then when they grow older they turn into their parents. They turn into demanding, unloving adults. Do you think Mae Mo will follow this pattern, do you think she will turn into another "one of them"?

  1. Thats a good question, we repeatedly see Aibileen say things like "I hope I got more time with her" and stuff like that, so I think Aibileen has seen this kind of stuff a lot throughout her life as a maid. It will be really sad if mae mobely grows up to be like her mother, because she is so sweet and innocent right now.

  2. I agree, remember when Aibileen told her the story about the black girl and the white girl being friends? I think Mae Mobely might be different but her mother will try to make her a proper white lady.

  3. I think that Mae Mobley will turn out a lot like Skeeter, because she will never be able to please Miss Leefolt, and her little brother will always be her favorite. And she won't be skinny, and she will never agree with her mother on anything. I think that that kind of relationship with her mother (very similar to Skeeter's with her mother) will make her want to rebel and disobey her mother at every possible time. Not to mention that she will be growing up while everything is changing. By the time she would be our age, so many more people will be doing what Skeeter and Minny and Aibileen did, and maybe her mother will never change her mind, but I bet Mae Mobley will have her own opinions.

  4. I was just wondering why you thought for sure Mae Mobley would be different? I agree, I was just wondering your reasons. I think that Mae Mobley will be different because she is only a little toddler when all of this is happening, and so by the time that she is even in her teens, things will have already started to change.
I realize that Miss Skeeter has a mind of her own, but she was raised the same way as most of the other women and she is different and has a different (better in my opinion) way of thinking. Do you think Constantine helped with that? What do you think influenced her?

  5. yes, i agree with all of you! i think if this was a different time in history she would grow up and become simular to skeeter, but now that things are starting to become more equal in sociaty she may be able to have a more normal life style when shes older, while still being "her"
